Eskom Night of the Stars

Nicework was approached by Bluemoon to not only create videos for Eskom’s prestigious Chairman’s Awards, but also find stars from among Eskoms staff compliment to perform at the event. The evening celebrates exceptional individuals who have excelled during the year.

Eskom is South Africa’s national power supplier and one of the biggest on the African continent.

Discovery:

Bluemoon approached Nicework to create videos for Eskom’s internal version of the Idols – the ‘Salute the Stars’ Chairman’s Awards, which celebrate people who have achieved great things during the year. We were also given the daunting task of discovering the stars hidden in Eskom’s ranks who’d shine at this event and give dazzling performances. 

Brief:

• Create opening and performance videos for the event
• Design an awards template
• Find talented Eskom employees to host and perform at the event 

Tackling the brief:

The event name, ‘Salute the Stars’ informed our design, and stars linked together to form constellations were used.

Then, to find these stars, we set up a one-day talent search. All hopeful employees were invited to show off their talent, and over the course of the day we whittled the talent down to find our three performers and two MCs.  

The lucky stars were then coached and readied for the big night by District 9 star, Nick Boraine.
