Flux Trends Conference 2012

Leading trend analysis company, Flux Trends entrusted Nicework with the creation of an overall creative treatment, brand and roll out for their annual Trend Review Conference. We accepted this challenge, and came up with a simple, smart and relevant solution.

Client: Flux Trends

Founded by Dion Chang, Flux Trends is a trend analysis business that identifies lifestyle trends which affect the way we live and work in the 21st century.  Basically, they’re the people who tell us that in six month’s time we’re all going to be liking green.

Discovery:

Flux Trends was gearing up to hold their annual Trends Review Conference, a one-day event that brings together a select group of thought leaders from a range of industries to provide insight on current trends. For this, Flux needed an identity to reflect the progressive nature of the conference.

Brief:

Nicework was asked to create a visual treatment, brand and supporting material for the conference.

Challenge:

Creating visual continuity based on the previous years conferences

A digital print run meant we were slightly limited in terms of document size and spot colour usage.

Animations needed to loop seamlessly and work throughout the progression of the conference.

Tackling the Brief

Booklet:

The booklet needed to do two things: contain information about the different speakers, and acknowledge the main conference partner, Samsung. To tackle this, we came up with the idea of using the actual dimensions of the Samsung Galaxy Note to inform the booklet design. We expanded on this concept by using QR codes in the booklet as links to access more information on the different speakers. A custom die tool was created to cut the booklets to the precise shape.

The result: a palm-sized technology inspired booklet that is packed with information, has space for notes and gives a nod to the conference sponsor.

Animation:

The animations were tackled using Adobe After Effects. As the overall visual treatment was based on a block grid, this same approach was carried through into the animation.

Result:

  • A smart, well designed booklet that achieves its objective
  • Happy partner brand – Samsung
  • Happy client – Flux Trends
