Catherine is Nicework’s resident wordsmith/copywriter. She studied at the University of Witwatersrand, where she majored in History of Art and English. She went on to complete her honours in English literature. She likes men with beards, cheese and drawing (not necessarily in that order).“Deanna Halsall is a UK based illustrator and artist producing editorial, advertising, and interior work for a range of clients that include NBC America, Umbro, The Eden Project and The British Science Council. Her work stems from a love of nature, birds, beards, pens, nice hair, nostalgia, super mario, screen prints, the colour yellow and collecting old stuff usually found in her parents’ attic.”

I want to go to there.

DKNG Studios created this series of vector illustrations for “Dead Rockstars: A Tribute to the Mortal Gods of Sound“. The series explores the 27 Club, a meme regarding popular musicians who all died at the age of 27. Can you guess them?

“I love hamburgers (more for contemplation than consumption though). This large (roughly 6×8 inches, 3 pound) wooden burger, made on the lathe and laser cutter, was a chance for me to spend some time in the shop and make something with a little more humor and irony than my design projects at the time.”
One of the most surprising videos to surface during the Pacific Standard Time Performance and Public Art Festival is rapper Ice Cube celebrating his passion for the Eames (before Ice Cube become a hip hop star in NWA, he studied architectural drafting). We really liked the poster they produced for the event.
“The Ampersand Collection is a curated package of 10 Original 9×9 prints from 10 designers around the interwebs. Each ampersand is hand printed on a cover weight stock of Mr. French paper. The package of prints are held inside a celophane wrapping in a custom folder in a limited-edition of 200.”
