The Future of Print Media

Posted by

I just had to post this cartoon from The New Yorker about the tenuous future of print media. Personally, I hope the caveman endures.

Its a funny comic! Its amazing how many people think that print media is dying. I am a print broker and in the past had a few customers leave me saying that they were cutting all printing out of their line of work and would be doing everything electronically. But when they were attending trade shows, or had customers come in to the office they were asking for brochures and were disappointed the only way to look at their products were on-line. I would say of the customers who have left me for that reason 90% have come back printing more then they used to in the past.

There are also all sorts of new ideas coming out in how to make printing more exciting. Varnishes can be used to create textures and different types of papers can be used to create special effects that can make print more exciting and combat the on-line world.

Although they are great rivals, I think they are still pretty balanced in their competition at the moment.

    I hope the caveman prevails!

    Thanks for sharing this!
