One-second wonders

Posted by

Busy week ahead of you? Here’s a selection of great one-second micro films from by London-based animation studio Animade‘s new Vimeo channel Full Secs. Each piece consists of a title card, often baring a double entendre or some other form of wordplay, followed by a single second’s worth of animation demonstrating the idea, and then the end slate. It’s remarkable what wit and humour can be conveyed in just one second.

In case you have a few spare seconds, you can watch more here. It’s worth it!

Paths of Hate

This wonderfully executed animated short by Damian Nemov is really thought-provoking and well worth a watch. Or two or three, if you want to really appreciate the sheer level of detail in the texturing and animation. Not one for the kiddies, though.

Blu MUTO

Posted by

Blu is the pseudonym of an Italian street artist who has been creating artworks for the last 13 years. His works interpret the architectural language of public spaces and reinvent them as dynamic canvases.

Something in MUTO, this video, is reminiscent of Kentridge’s charcoal animations of Soho Eckstein. Or maybe it’s just me.

Nicework Showreel 2012

Posted by

It’s finally here, our 2012 Showreel with all our latest and greatest work!

This time around we opted for a non-traditional approach and used 2D animation to bring our work to life on the set where it was created: the Nicework studio.

Because doing things differently is how we like to do things, we’re particularly happy with our showreel because it showcases what we do in the way we like doing it. Niceness all round.

And so without further ado, take a look and tell us what you think, we hope you like it as much as we do.

GIFted mr. div

Posted by

Matthew DiVito is a young motion graphic designer. He is also the exceptionally talented man behind mr. div, the Tumblr featuring these hypnotic GIFs. DiVito began experimenting with GIFs in 2011 to practice his Cinema 4D skills. You can read more about this GIFted wonder boy in this article.

mr. div’s futuristic cyber aesthetic is both mesmerizing and haunting; there is something deeply unsettling about these beautiful GIFs. A far cry from meme-type GIFs, these are GIFs of art.

Everyone likes balls

This great new animated short, by Redwood Forest filmmaking team Everyone, revolves around a ball…

And what’s even more cool, is that many of the images used in the short were sourced from the internet.
