Craig Wylie says:” I loves what a good portrait does to me. It seems to operate on a visceral level. I’m interested in all kinds of painting and art in general, but the works that move me are more frequently figurative. I feel it’s possible to create something very interesting with coloured paints, a flat surface and a human subject.” From a young age he have drawn people, both imaginary and real. As he became more serious about art as a vocation, it was a natural progression to continue this interest in the human figure. When looking at these portraits it feels as if they are staring right at you. These portraits are painted so realistically, you can feel the aura of the personality right infront of you.

Owl and Pussycat
A beautifully illustrated interpretation of Edward Lear’s poem, “The Owl and The Pussycat” by London based Cat Neligan. I want to turn them in to coasters and scatter them all over my coffee table!

Gary Baseman, “The Door is Always Open”
One of my favourite artists, Gary Baseman has recently launched his lastest exhibition titled The Door Is Always Open. This is a literal door to his childhood home which allows you get to know his family, his art, his characters, and see everything that makes Gary Baseman who he is. The show consists of a series of seven rooms that are made to resemble his house, each room has a theme too and is dedicated to an aspect that has helped develop him. At the opening of the exhibition, Baseman hosted a “House Party” in the museum which was filled with all his unique characters wandering around interacting with his guests.

Papier
I am so impressed by the level of creativity and technical skill in these vaguely unsettling mixed-media portraits by French Canadian artist Sandra Chevrier. Have a look at some of her other work!

Meet Kyle Platts. A freelance illustrator living in London. He has an awesome style and his comics tend to be funny or inappropriate or both, either way, I thoroughly enjoy everything he does. Enjoy!
Wooden animal illustrations
Einar Guðmundsson is a graphic designer born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland. He graduated with a B.A. in Graphic Design and Visual Communication from the Iceland Academy of the Arts in 2012. These animal portrait posters are build up out of triangular wooden shapes and I think it is beautiful! I’d love to hang one in my house.
Eyes scream for Eyescream
Who needs ice cream scoops on a cone when you can have ice cream shavings in a cup…with eyes?! Eyescream is a new ice cream bar that’s opened up in Barcelona, Spain. The branding is awesome and fun and makes me want to take some back in time to when I was a kid so I could feel like I was eating a monster. The cheesecake flavour particularly excites me.
