Impossible Architecture

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The dreamers and doers from digital design agency, ustwo, has just released the teaser for their new game “Monument Valley”. This particular game was inspired by artist MC Escher’s optical illusions and requires you to navigate around impossible architecture. Although many have been inspired by Escher, no one has turned this concept in to a real game.

“For a few years I’ve thought about how one might design a game where the architecture was the central character. I’m particularly fond of temples, palaces, mosques, monasteries and other buildings which combine exquisite artistry with a potential for exploration and mystery. The main problem was how to make an interactive experience out of this.”.

The art direction and overall design of Monument Valley is absolutely beautiful and personally I can’t wait to get my hands on this. If you would like to find out more about the game, you can  read this interview that Ken Wong, artist and designer at ustwo, recently did with FormFiftyFive.
